The BIOS Business Incubator today hosted representatives of the OECD and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, who were in Osijek as part of their participation in the Green Matrix Summit and the OECD capacity-building workshop dedicated to the digital and green transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises.
For this occasion, BIOS was selected as an example of good practice in the development of entrepreneurial infrastructure and systematic support for entrepreneurs.
The visit to BIOS was organised by Gabriela Miranda, Senior Advisor at the OECD and one of the key coordinators of the Digital and Green SMEs: Accelerating Twin Transitions in the Western Balkans programme.
During the visit, the attendees were addressed by the director, Igor Medić. In his presentation, he introduced the staff, organisational structure, key areas of work, and the core mission of BIOS – providing systematic support to the incubator’s residents. He placed particular emphasis on the concrete support mechanisms that accompany entrepreneurs from their early steps through to growth and scaling phases.
As part of the tour, guests visited several companies operating within the incubator and the wider community: Wizia Design, coworking residents, Protostar Labs, the Centre for Entrepreneurship, and Downtown Game Studio. Each company presented its work, innovations, and development plans, offering visitors insight into the dynamic and increasingly robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Osijek.
After their visit to BIOS, the representatives continued their programme at the Green Matrix Summit, an international event dedicated to sustainability and green technologies, where they are attending lectures and panels organised as part of the capacity-building workshop.
Today’s visit confirmed the importance of BIOS as a regional actor in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and as a relevant partner in the processes of digital and green transformation.
